1 – RSS Feeds
These are magical little devices for getting repeat traffic, and yet not everybody knows how to use them. If you have a blog then the first thing you need to do is get an RSS feed, keep it updated, and explain to your users how it works.
A lot of people do not know, and therefore will not sign up to your RSS feed. It is your job to explain to them what an RSS feed does, and then encourage them to use it. If you manage to get people to sign up to your RSS feed, then you can be sure that most of them will return to your blog at least one more time.
2 – Google
This is a great place to get new traffic because it is free; it is used by billions of people across the globe. And, it is probably going to index and rank your blog anyway. So, you do not even have to put in a massive amount of effort. All you need to do is sit back and let it do the work for you. The thing is that it will be a lot more productive if you make your blog and blog posts more search engine friendly. That way you will be more likely to get more traffic to your blog.
3 – Facebook
It is not the big marketing platform that the web gurus would like you to believe. But, it is capable of drawing a few people from the site and onto your blog. A simple but effective method is to give a small taste of your blog post, with the blog post excerpt ending on an interesting point. The reader may then feel curious enough to have a look at your blog post to see what is what.
4 – Twitter
This is the world’s second-biggest social media site, even though it has less than 25% of the visitors than Facebook does. Nevertheless, it is a good place to pick up new traffic by enticing people with questions and the inference that the answer to the question lies at the end of the link you have posted. This may peak the curiosity of enough people to inspire them to visit your blog.
5 – Links for direct traffic
A link on another domain has the potential to drive traffic to your website or blog. The link is installed pointing at your blog, and it may have a positive effect on the search engine friendliness of your blog. This will mean that you get more traffic from the search engines. However, a link will also send you direct traffic. It will send traffic from other domains to yours, as people will click the link out of curiosity. This traffic will then add to your traffic numbers and may create repeat traffic.
